Miniature computer -- OQO 2 UMPC
OQO released the world's smallest fully functional Windows Vista PC, the embedded HSDPA will surf European UMTS data networks at rates up to 3.6 Mbps.
The HSDPA model e2 is compatible with GPRS/EDGE networks and is SIM-free and network unlocked, meaning customers won't be handcuffed to a particular carrier. While the e2 is available for sale in the United States, the HSDPA model will not be. Still, we see no reason why OQO wouldn't bring the device to the U.S., as the company earlier this year released a similar device sporting 3G EV-DO networking.

Panasonic's Atom-based Toughbook
Get ready, argonauts -- Panasonic's Atom-based UMPC Toughbook is gearing up to ship out soon.
Although previewed multiple times, the computer should now be made official and will be the first known tablet to use the ultra-efficient, long battery life processor while also adding a rugged design. The 5.6-inch touchscreen is bordered by a shockproof rubber casing that covers ports that aren't in use and keeps out dust and water.
Most specifications are still under guard, though the very small Toughbook will run Windows Vista and is likely to user a lower-clocked version of the Atom than the 1.6GHz chip found in mini notebooks, which have more space for cooling. One preview from Panasonic pointed to an actual launch in autumn, though whether this is for the company's native Japan or for other countries wasn't specified at the time.

With a finite amount of memory and an unlimited number of shooting configurations, a.Pix makes taking pictures simple and thought provoking.

Virtual piano
Digital Information Development (DID) has developed a highly portable virtual piano that is played with a keyboard consisting of projected laser beams.
The box-shaped device measures about 10 x 3 x 3 cm (4 x 1 x 1 in.) and weighs about 100 grams (3.5 oz.). Using a red semiconductor laser module and holographic optical element, the device projects a 25-key 2-octave keyboard onto the surface in front of it (black surfaces dont work because they absorb the light). A CMOS camera module and infrared (invisible) red semiconductor laser module detect which keys are touched, and the corresponding notes are emitted from speakers built into the device. Chords can also be played, and DID claims it is technically possible to reproduce weighted notes (but presumably not with this version).
The keyboard has 3 other voices in addition to piano organ, pipe organ and harpsichord. It is scheduled for release in Japan in November 2006 and is expected to cost around 15,000 yen (US$130).
DID says that a virtual 88-key grand piano can be created by increasing the size of the device.

Samsung OMNIA  {iPhone killer}
Samsung OMNIA is possibly the best ever smartphone that Samsung has ever built.
The Samsung OMNIA is powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and comes packed with MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, and Word). Even though the OMNIA is 100% touch screen, Samsung included an optical mouse for ease of navigation - the optical mouse is similar to what youd find on laptops.
The Samsung OMNIA is ultra-slim measuring 12.5mm and has a platinum look finish. Samsung added details such as elegant hairline patterns on the back of the phone to bring the perfection in style.
Also included on the OMNIA is a 5-megapixel CMOS camera with auto-focus (AF), face and smile detection and auto-panorama shot. OMNIA comes in 8 or 16GB memory configuration and additional storage can be added via extendable slot. Of course, a smart phone called OMNIA cant go without having a GPS, including navigation and geo-tagging capabilities, so youd never get lost wherever you are.
Best laptop thats not a laptopDell XPS M2010
With the XPS M2010, Dell has forgotten completely why laptops were invented in the first place. And thats a good thingor at least an interesting thing. Olympus SP-570UZ
This camera packs an easy to adjust 20X zoom lens, Perfect Shot Preview, Shadow Adjustment Technology, and a lot more into its hefty frame.
Image quality, while not stellar, will likely please most shooters and is easily bolstered by flexibility and a wealth of innovative features.
In fact, the SP-570UZ is one of the best all purpose cameras we've seen.
Sony A350
The biggest problem with this camera is that you can get the nearly identical 10.2MP A300 for $200 less, which makes the A350 a bit of a tough sell.
Is the bump in resolution worth the extra cash? I'm not wholly convinced, but for those who need it for extra large prints, the A350 will do a great job.
Nikon D300
It can honestly say that the follow up, the 12.3 mega pixels D300, is a worthy successor in so many ways that you may never want to put it down.
With a ton of features and terrific image quality, the D300 stands out as one of the best D-SLR's you can buy. Among the new features are a big 3 inch LCD, a 51 point auto focus system with 3D tracking, two live view modes, and enough manual settings to fill a 421 page user manual.
Although the D300 is still a little expensive for this category, the image quality alone is well worth the cost. Regardless of price, with everything the D300 offers, it easily replaces the D200 as D-SLR.

Canon Pixma iP2600 Photo Printer
The bottom line: The Canon Pixma iP2600 is an excellent option for buyers looking to print their personal photos and text documents. We wish it had external ports for direct image uploading (although we're not surprised it doesn't), but you'll be more than satisfied with this printer's ability to deliver quality photos at a low price.
The photos themselves are also incredibly easy to crop, repair, and alter using the included Easy-PhotoPrint EX software bundle. Overall, you'll find that this is a cost-effective printer for text documents and amateur-level photo printing.
Design
It's obvious that Canon put a lot of work into the design of the iP2600. The sleek exterior is 5.6x17.4x10 inches and has a glossy black, slightly mirrored finish that looks sleek on your desk--that is, until the dust settles, literally. The shiny body retains fingerprints, a lot like the display on the iPhone. Smudges aside, the iP2600 doesn't take up a lot of desk space, and it blended in nicely with the rest of our dark peripherals.
The output and paper trays both fold into the unit when not in use, creating a tight box that could easily be mistaken for a stereo boom box. The output tray folds down from the face of the printer with a slightly flimsy rectangular arm that extends to corral loose paper. The arm doesn't have a cap at the end, which was counterproductive, and a few of our test sheets flew off the tray as a result. Annoying, but certainly not a deal-breaker.
The control panel is very minimalist, with only power and paper feed buttons on top of the printer. The power button also doubles as an alarm lamp that flashes orange when an error occurs. The power cord and the USB port are on the back. Potential buyers should be aware that you'll need a USB cord to connect the printer to a computer, but as is frustratingly common with printers, it's not included in the box. Appropriate for this price, there are no provisions for external bridge connectivity, so consumers looking to eliminate the middleman and plug a digital camera, a USB key, or a memory card directly into the IP2600 should look to a comparable, more fully featured (albeit higher priced) set like the HP Deskjet D4260 or the Epson Stylus Photo R260.
Performance
The Canon Pixma iP2600 performed admirably in our speed tests. The Pixma churned out 5.68 pages per minute (ppm) of black-and-white text, falling just short of the HP Deskjet 4260 ($75) at 6.03 ppm and the Lexmark Z845 ($50) at 6.85 ppm. The three printers are all within the same general sub-$100 price range, so the slight deficit is expected and acceptable compared with other budget inkjet printers.
