Lexmark Z1420

Of course the world has gone wireless. Its hard to miss walking down the street. Phones are the most obvious as are pictures when something embarrassing happens. Wireless printers, however, have been a bit on the slow side in keeping pace. They have been available but in many cases they were just too expensive or require an advanced degree to install.

What to look for from Lexmark to Canon, just about all printer manufacturers have a wireless printer line in one form or another. How the manufacturer decides to go about developing its offerings is the key to many aspects of deciding which wireless photo printer is right for you. The two big things to watch or are; does the photo printer have its wireless capability built in or is it optional.

Whats available? The Canon Selphy ES1 is a solid wireless photo printer unit. Like just about all wireless photo printers it does come with issues that are easily accepted. The Canons issue is a slow operating system. This is a small issue by any comparison considering what consumers expect these days; its never fast enough.

Lexmark has offered two new wireless printers with built in wireless technology in 2007. The Lexmark Z1420 and Lexmark X45450 offer 802.1 b/g wireless technologies.

If printing from a memory card, however, you will need a USB. A 5x7 border less photo will need some software as well. Each is a multi-function unit so price it a little more. If a dedicated photo printer is an option check out the Lexmark Z1420. Its adequate for the job, doesnt need a doctorate to install and turns out reasonable photos for under $80.00.
