TOSHIBA RELEASES 640GB HARD DRIVE

Disk maker Toshiba has announced a 640GB hard disk spinning at 5400rpm. Rival disk maker Hitachi already has a 500GB 2.5 inch hard drive spinning at 7200rpm. The Toshiba drive has a data density of 528.5 GB per square inch, and because of this high density it can reach the full capacity on just two storage platters.
