The company iRobot, founded by a team of engineers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, today unveiled a new range of its Roomba autonomous machines, whose mission is, in essence, get rid of the tedious chore of vacuuming the house. With the push of a button starts the AWARE system, which explores the layout of the room to be cleaned. It is also able to sneak under some furniture and uses a series of circular brushes that move in opposite directions to remove dust and dirt.
The robot-vacuum cleaner is completely safe for children and pets, and disconnects automatically as soon as it rises from the ground. Alone also avoids any obstacles such as walls, furniture or containers. On the other hand, incorporates a mechanism to prevent it catching on the carpet and stops and changes direction when faced with stairs.
Roomba developers say that more than 3 million households already have some version of this plantation, which is around 350 euros, which makes this domestic robot in the best-selling history among his class.
